Viacom launches customizable TV channel

  • Viacom (VIAB) plans to launch a TV network in the U.S. that parents can control content on.
  • Customers of Verizon's (VZ) FiOS will be the first to get crack at My Nickoledeon Junior while Viacom works out deals with other Pay-TV operators.
  • Both Verizon and Viacom think the idea of programmable content will keep it competitive with streaming services.
  • On Netflix: "There's no reason they should own that space—we should own that space," says one Verizon exec.
