Altria tries to play nice with the FDA

Altria (MO -0.9%) tries to play nice after hearing a stinging new report from the Surgeon General on the expanded harmful impacts of smoking.

An exec with the company says that he believes that FDA regulations as they pertain to product innovation can "substantially reduce" the harm caused by smoking.

The goal of the company appears to be to ally itself with the FDA in calling the use of e-cigarettes a healthier alternative for smokers. The federal agency hasn't tipped off what it plans to do with regulations on the form of smoking called vaping.

Actually, it is a mixture of vegetable glycerin and propylene glycol. Both are used in food preparation and are less harmful than the bad breath of the pleasure police.
