Statoil set for Algeria return after last year's attacks

Statoil (STO -0.2%) is preparing to return foreign personnel to its gas fields in Algeria after evacuating staff a year ago due to the deadly terror attack on the In Amenas plant.

STO says expats will return to work "soon" at the In Salah gas project but will take a bit longer to get back in at In Amenas; STO operates the two fields in joint ventures with BP and Algeria’s state-owned Sonatrach.

STO also removed permanent foreign staff from the Mabruk and Murzuq fields in neighboring Libya, but so far the company is getting its full allotment of 10K bbl/day of crude from the two fields without foreign workers.

STO, moving forward - in its own way Scandinavian - just as its share price.
