Vringo flies higher, Google workaround proposal rejected

  • The Eastern Virginia court handling Vringo's (VRNG +22.4%) patent suit against Google (and others) has rejected a proposed Google workaround for the company's AdWords search ad platform.
  • Vringo shares have skyrocketed in response. They jumped earlier this month after the court awarded Vringo supplemental damages and prejudgment interest on a 2012 infringement verdict.

yes, great to be long ! let the short covering begin.... after the stock resumes trading :)

this def will put more pressure on Google to settle, but they are most likely going to fight to the bitter end.

Absolutely, Leont48. I also expect the price to settle downwards over the next 2 weeks (as it historically does). So, if anyone is near their target sell, consider getting out now. If you're truly a long, don't change that position today.

@Revanche totally agree with your point of view. But with the settlement conference in mind, I would hold onto whatever shares until we are sure Google is not going to settle.

now what we need is a reversal of the Laches ruling lols.. and also we are totally forgetting that the ZTE case is going to come to a close soon.

"The trial shall be completed within six months from the first day when the matter is listed before the local commissioner. The learned Single Judge may take-up the matter after completion of trial on an expedited basis. "

And if I remember correctly Vringo filed the ZTE suit in november 2013, so we should hear some news in May.

Hey, let's hope we can get enough interest to crush all the Short Sellers who are trying to crush Vringo. I saw somebody buy 733 Feb $3.50 contracts, interesting bet with about a Month to go.

Surprised anyone would sell now that VRNG "is entitled to ongoing royalties as long as Defendants continue to use the modified system." The District Court deferred ruling on the royalty rate pending the parties' settlement conference that is scheduled for later today before a United States Magistrate Judge."

Selling before the settlement conference, when VRNG is in a position of strength makes little sense.

Why wasn't this judgement pasted all over the front page of the Wall Street Journal or Investors Business Daily. This is a big big deal! As far as the stock price soaring that day, yah it was decent move, that should have been a near double. You could bet the share price would have dropped 2+ dollars if the work around b/s was in Google's favor. For crying out loud, its the whole freaking case. How many pin falls does Vringo need against GOOG?

The reason is the current atmosphere against 'trolls'. In fact, Ken Lang was the original patent holder. Very few people know this.

high short interest, shorts are keeping this stock down. That is why you see these huge pops every time there is good news, they need to cover their xxxs . Good trading stock... Buy when it is down and wait for a pop and then sell. rinse and repeat.

The announcement was just made that Vringo trading has been stopped pending an announcement.

I suspect that the announcement might involve a settlement with Google.

Lucky me. I just picked up an additional 10,000 Vringo Warrants this morning to bolster my position to nearly 100,000 Warrants. The Warrants are trading at around one-third the price of the common, and the upside potential is off the charts.

Virtually all of the legal issues with the Google lawsuit have been resolved in Vringo's favor (with the possible exception of laches), and the matter remaining concerns the numbers.

    I anxiously await the announcement.
