More on Informatica: Piper's checks positive, Deutsche downgrades to Hold

Ahead of Informatica's (INFA +2%) Thursday Q4 report, Piper states its sources report of multiple 7-figure deals scored by the data warehousing software firm during the quarter, including one with Facebook.

Informatica disclosed a year ago Facebook uses the company's PowerCenter Big Data Edition software, which enables data warehousing/integration projects making use of the Hadoop big data/analytics framework. Informatica had 23 $1M+ transactions in Q3, up from 13 a year earlier.

Along with Credit Suisse's upgrade, Piper's note is helping Informatica rally in the face of a Deutsche downgrade to Hold (caused by a transfer of analyst coverage). In spite of the downgrade, Deutsche says its Q4 checks are positive; the ratings cut is said to be a long-term call.
