Movie studios and exhibitors tangle over trailers

A group repping theater owners wants to limit movie trailers to two minutes and preclude them from appearing earlier than five months before a film debuts.

The plan would disrupt the marketing efforts of movie studios which sometimes run trailers on large tent-pole movies a year in advance.

What to watch: Exhibitors are looking for ways to kick up more revenue and forcing studios to pay for premium trailer placements is an alluring option.
