Valero's quarterly profit climbs, assisted by CST sale


Valero Energy (VLO) -0.4% AH after Q4 earnings jumped 28% Y/Y and beat estimates but revenue fell short.

Q4 adjusted earnings of $1.78/share came in at the high end of $1.60-$1.80 company guidance and above $1.47 analyst consensus, but revenue fell 0.8% Y/Y to $34.4B vs. $37.2B consensus.

Unadjusted earnings included a gain of $0.60/share related to the spinoff of VLO's retained interest in CST Brands.

VLO's 2013 capex totaled $2.76B, below previous guidance; 2014 capex is seen at ~$3B, as previously announced.
