Announced 10 cent dividend this quarter or 40 cents a year dividend. This is a cut of 35 cents or 46% haircut. I have several thousand shares averaging $7.50 (less some option earnings) which is just a tad above the Verizon swap valuation in the $7.25 area. If one has only Verizon generated shares the 10 cents a quarter or 40 cents annually means your capital is still returning 5.5% per year in yield which beats a sharp stick in the eye! Eh?

Any long term holders who had not gotten out by now are likely getting burned today due to the dividend cut since the stock is likely not to see $7 or above for quite awhile. However with the solid financials reported today and the dividend cut this company is on sound footing and a bottom should be in the security. I sold my shares last year for a capital loss to apply against taxes and have an option at $4 and right now I am quite happy with the earnings report and future of my option.

I do not have many shares at this time. But, I do not want to lose all. What is the prospect in one year?
