  • The Bloomberg Consumer Comfort Index retreats to its lowest level in 10 weeks, -33.1 on its scale of -100 to +100, led by a steep drop in ratings of the buying climate.
  • The CCI’s troubles reflect fewer people saying it’s a good time to buy things they want and need; at -41.0, the buying climate subindex is its lowest in three months, losing 9.2 points since Dec. 22.
  • CCI among $100K-plus earners falls to +2.9, the group's worst showing since last March, reflecting the stock market's recent slide.
