Netflix slow for many Comcast customers

There are more reports across the U.S. of Comcast (CMCSA +0.3%) customers seeing slower load times and streaming issues with Netflix (NFLX -0.9%), while their other over-the-top services such as Hulu, Amazon Prime, or YouTube perform just fine.

Whether Comcast is actually "throttling" down the Netflix broadband service isn't known for sure.

Netflix is downplaying the issue, but does provide customers a nifty ISP Speed Index to show how various providers rank. By the by, Comcast ranks 14th in the USA.

Looks like Verizon FIOS is a big waste of money from those results.

Although I have grumbled about the ISPs in general on many other comment pages, my own Windstream-provided Netflix service remains good.

Everyone should pay their fair share for what they receive. Why should "bandwidth hogs" get a free ride? If you use more electricity in your home than your neighbor, you pay for it.
Whether it's Kilowatts or Megabytes you will pay for what you receive. Period.

exactly. I thought I was the only one who thought this way. I hate having my speed slowed down by these hogs. Thanks.

Comcast?!? What about Verizon and others too... I find it hard to believe that all these ISPs are impacting only Netflix and all the Internet brains have not figured out how ISPs are secretly doing that.

Given other streaming video works fine, the common denominator appears to be Netflix's capacity decisions on how to deliver their video to select ISPs. Everything else appears to be working fine and others are making good decisions around capacity.
