This is a surprise. I wasn't expecting another dividend. More of a book value play at this point. If they get through this debt crunch expect a big payday from these levels.

the company is one foot on the bankruptcy court steps. the company is losing money. how is it the value play?
the value play is buying an out-of-favor company that grows sales, improves margins and increases the market share.

companies go out of business all the time, regardless of how important is their product (unless they have powerful connections with the white house - but even that didn't save Solyndra...). if the company operates in the red and is losing money, its fate is the (yes, you guessed it) - the BK court. After which the assets will be sold to interested parties at a discount. In which case the shareholders will only get a fraction (if anything) of their investors.
