In India's first solar permit auction since 2012, SunEdison (SUNE +1.1%) won the right to build 100MW worth of solar plants. The company and other winners will collectively receive up to $302M in grants to offset ~30% of project costs.
SunEdison has had its eyes set on expanding its Indian presence for some time. India nearly doubled its solar capacity to 2.18GW last year, and aims to have 10GW by 2017. That would still leave it well behind China, which has a 35GW 2015 capacity target.
