Really? The market can justify the Palo Alto Network price move from a close of $73.62 to $79.99, with an earnings beat of $0.01, excluding non-recurring items. Also, consider uncertainty of the lawsuit between Palo Alto and Juniper. Read the article “Did Palo Alto Really 'Win' Juniper Patent Decision”? by Daniel B. Ravicher, (Patents/litigation) at Seeking Alpha.
He states in part “Because I believe the market misinterpreted Thursday's decision, failing to recognize the loss to Palo Alto of being able to argue invalidity and wrongly believing four of the seven patents-in-suit had been dismissed, and because I believe the splitting of the case into two trials greatly benefits Juniper, in that they only need to win on one patent at one trial, while Palo Alto now has to win both trials completely, I have established a short position in Palo Alto.”
