I do not understand who keeps chasing prices higher on many stocks in this market.

Is it all computer/technical trading? As a human I cannot make sense of it. Sincerely, can someone please help explain this?

I sense some sarcasm there. I did NOT say anything about the past five years I'm talking about since January or so.
I was throwing out a notion not a real theory. My point is that while much of the run up has seems to have been justified, the economy did not swallow some magic elixir wherein all news is good news. Or maybe I am mistaken.

I'm talking about of high frequency trading that began several years ago, wich accounts nearly for 75% trading nowadays, supported by extense liquidity from Mr.Ben based on powerfull algoritms that can read news and act accordingly. Any case, in the longer term some rationality will arise concerning fundamentals.

Consumer confidence down. Too much cold weather and Christmas bills. The January blues. Let's see if February indicates a trend.

Bad weather, JP Morgan cutting jobs, IBM cutting jobs.............. All in all no reason for a rising Sentiment.

Exactly. Its not as if the springtime purchasing will automatically make up 100% of what was lost from the "weather caused" slow down. It may make up the majority of it but not all of it. Yet, it seems the downside is zero to the market.
