Sears Holdings primes Seritage for more action

  • Sears Holdings (SHLD +4.4%) is selling stores from its recently-established Seritage real estate website without making a direct or obvious connection of the tie-in to Sears from the postings, according to a Bloomberg report.
  • Over 200 Sears or Kmart stores are listed on the Seritage site.
  • The development has some analysts speculating that Seritage could eventually be spun off into a publicly-traded REIT.

If only Eddie Lampert were turning over the cash generated to Warren Buffett.

Warren Buffett wouldn't waste the cash in a futile effort to become another Amazon.

    So many wasted opportunities!!

An amusingly positive take on a not particularly positive article. "Lampert missed the opportunity to sell stores when the economy was stronger, McGinley said. The shares closed yesterday at $38.05 in New York, about a quarter of their value in the weeks after the merger. Sears rose 2.4 percent to $38.95 at 9:40 a.m.

Now, potential real estate buyers may simply wait for Sears’s situation to get bleaker and prices to get cheaper, said Lachance, who is based in Newport Beach, California."

You have to take the spinoffs, etc., in consideration as Berkowitz mentions.

Eddie knows what properties he wants to hold onto.

I think Seritage created that lease were Evoke and their camera's leased 66,000 square feet from a Sears, to shoot adds for Kmart

they also put Kroger inside Kmart (34,000 ft) Kmart just as well close the doors on the 175,000 ft they are sharing with them

    absolutely brillant
