Chipotle's steak shortage is off-script

Some Chipotle (CMG +0.9%) stores are posting signs indicating that they are serving "conventionally raised" steak due to shortages.

Though the shortages have cropped up from time to time before for the chain, this time around is less than ideal with Chipotle's Farmed and Dangerous Hulu series being promoted.

The comedy takes on the food industry and the traditional sourcing of meats.

Please do not call Farmed and Dangerous a comedy. They are deadly serious about crippling all American farming not deemed to be "organic". Go read up on the USDA rules concerning certification for organic farmers. There are no in-the-field, pre-harvest crop inspections and less than 5% of finished organic products are inspected. Traditional farmers are subjected to far more scrutiny, both pre and post harvest. Much of the USDA organic certification regimen is nothing more than a paperwork exercise, where organic farmers are pencil-whipped into compliance (especially foreign "organic" farmers). Under the USDA, the National Organic Program is not located under the science or verification branches or any of the inspection functions, but rather under AMS, the Agricultural Marketing Service. Organic farmers have a federally sanctioned marketing system.

Finally, if one moderate sized fast food chain can't get enough organic beef, how are organic farmers going to feed the world?
