Sunoco teams with Vitol on Permian Basin pipeline build-out

Sunoco Logistics Partners (SXL) is working with Swiss oil trader Vitol to expand pipeline capacity for shipping Permian Basin crude output to the Gulf Coast.

The two companies formed a 50-50 venture to build a new crude oil pipeline from the Permian oil storage hub in Midland to Garden City, Tex., where it will connect into SXL's Permian Express 2 line, according to its 10-K filing.

SXL also confirmed it had successfully completed an open season during Q4 for the Permian Express 2, which will carry ~200K bbl/day from multiple areas in the Permian ~300 miles to the coast.
