J.C. Penney will not report monthly metrics this year

In an email obtained by Bloomberg, company spokeswoman Kristin Hays says J.C. Penney (JCP +3.6%) will try to provide updates, but doesn't expect to report monthly sales "any time soon."

Meanwhile, JCP's 3.6% gain in a big down day for the markets puts the stock ahead about 40% in the last four sessions.

Initially I thought management was making a mistake not updating monthlly sales. Now, having been presented with tanglible evidence that a credible turnaround process was and now is being implemented, I think the less said the better. Let the quarterly results speak for themselves as they did last week. I, for one, am perfectly willing to wait for and receive good news in quarterly earning's reports, which better paints a total financial picture, at the expense of fragments of piece meal data, that can be "spun" in any way you might like. Sure it will give the "shorts" less to work with and spin (not that they won't try anyway)...but is that so bad given what we all went thru this last quarter?

Yes, I hope it hits 9+ before the end of the quarter. All the bad news are gone. Going forward, it is no news or good news.
