VirnetX granted 0.98% royalty in Apple dispute; shares soar

The Eastern Texas district court handling VirnetX's (VHC +21.1%) patent suit against Apple has assigned VirnetX a 0.98% royalty rate on "adjudicated products and products not colorably different from those adjudicated at trial that incorporate any of the FaceTime or VPN on Demand features found to infringe at trial." (8-K)

An Eastern Texas jury awarded VirnetX $368M in damages in 2012. VirnetX announced a favorable USPTO ruling related to its Apple dispute last month.

Congrats to the longs. The win on the RR% was imminent for a VirnetX victory.

Is .98% on the low end of expectations? Also does this now mean that Apple settle up on the
    368 mil plus interest?

Is is no news. A piddly .98% on an East Texas patent case, where all patent trolls file their cases, is meaningless since the Appeals Court will be hearing the entire case again. VHC won't be getting a dime for many many years.

Insolvency might happen way before that.

Hopefully now, the big players like Google or Sansum will negotiate to buy out VHC, and put the squeeze on arrogant Apple, which refuses to settle this matter!
