Refineries on the east coast had to shut down after their crack spreads went negative. Fewer refineries equals less gasoline.

California, in particular, is so expensive because of the insane taxes they place on each gallon of gasoline. Hawaii, simply because of their isolation and that everything needs to be shipped there. Florida.. taxes -- not sure?

Let's see... for the last three years, Obama has been waging war on the oil sector, the financial sector, and the health care sector. Guess who's suffering with the consequences?

    Blame the EPA once again.

    Because there are:

    http://slate.me/AAw222
"... overlapping federal and local requirements call for different recipes in different locales and seasons, there are approximately 20 distinct "boutique blends" of gasoline sold in the United States."

If we had one national summer blend and one winter blend, there would be way more competition amongst refiners and I bet Himmler's left nut that the price would go down as a result.

Obama working his magic on the Middle East to earn his Nobel Peace Prize. Nothing like high gas prices to hit lower income folks the hardest. Way to go Big O!
