This movement is parabolic and unsustainable. Time to head to the exit ramp, take my profits, and go home.

I think the movement in Energy cells is similar to railroads.... Oh please explain. Some time last century a railroad company put into service a sleek and pretty diesel electric locomotive. It became the thing even though the old ugly steam engine could pull a bigger load and faster than the new diesel electrics.

I have always heard that electricity was a very inefficient form of energy. I believe it was due mostly to energy losses in transmission. Somebody please tell me how much carbon is released in generating and delivering the electricity vs carbon is released to get the hydrogen to drive a similar vehicle 100 miles.

But we all know that fad status will trump economic data.

also, fuel cells look bubblish. But if I can just ride that bubble to just before it busts or just shortly after it bursts maybe I can convert some of that bubblish expansion into expanding the value of my retirement account.

You don't jump out on this news. You buy more. Just wait till PLUG comes out Thursday. If they report around the same or better than FCEL, PLUG will jump even higher!!

Have sold 2/3 of my shares in Hydrogenics Corp. now.

We're talking about a company that still is not profitable and has been enjoying a nice run up as it's pushed up on financial websites. I like the prospects of the company and I'll keep holding on to my remaining position with the intention of buying back at a price that pays credit to the risks involved in holding the company.

Could ZBB be a take over company? Their Zinc Bromide technology might become quiet valuable in the near future if the world goes to electric autos.

    Ted:
Batteries, no matter what chemistry, can compete with fuel cells in the long run! RCBEVs systems have been tried for over a hundred years and every one has been a failure. EVs will be the car of the future, powered by fuel cells, not RCBs!
    Enjoy!

I sold in pre market this morning for nearly a "Double." Why did I sell? Well
to quote your remark of several days ago:
"The reasons, I leave up to you to find out! My teaching days are over!
    Enjoy!"

    I see you understand it:)
To deal with the stock that changes direction from start +17% to start - 17% (34% volatility per one session) is nonsense for the regular investor. Otherwise of course there are to many adventurists on the market today playing all kind of games. Keep FCEL and enjoy:)))

Alternative energy is still risky and volatile. To have positions in this area, you need to believe that the future is with the growth of microgrids using alternative energy to fossil fuels. Not everyone believes in this and not everyone believes how necessary this shift is. So, you have people who are just speculating, jumping in to just make a quick buck without caring about the long term. So, the stocks will go up and they will go down.

Some people will say that the belief in alternative energy is a hippy-dippy vision. What I see is that major corporations, institutions, and the military are investing in that vision, not out of activism, but they have crunched the numbers and the shift makes business sense.

I am long in alternative energy and microgrids because this is a 10-15 year ride.
