Wix buys mobile commerce app platform Appixia

Appixia, acquired by WIX for an undisclosed sum, offers individuals and SMBs code-free tools for building mobile sites and Android/iOS apps that can handle e-commerce transactions.

The purchase complements Wix's numerous code-free, SMB-focused tools for developing PC and mobile sites. Wix says its platform has been used to create 1.6M+ sites.

TechCrunch observes Appixia supports a number of e-commerce platforms, including eBay, Shopify, and Zen Cart, but adds it "currently doesn’t support retailers who don’t have an existing eCommerce store" (unlike Wix).
