Glaxo to bring physician educators in-house

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) will hire doctors to educate their peers instead of paying external speakers.

This is one of several initiatives the firm is implementing after paying a $3B fine to settle allegations that it illegally promoted Paxil and Wellbutrin and failed to report safely data on Avandia.

The company will cease paying outside doctors for giving speeches and attending medical meetings by early 2016.

This could be a step in the right direction. GSK should offer these 'train the trainer' to doctors who actually work in the field to which these drugs administered. Then, together with their input and the actual clinical studies, promote these drugs with a caveat on this can instead of may cause the following . Always tell the public to' see their doctor wether it for them..
