Sounds like a wise move - I hope it's not just for show.

There's often opportunity in a crises - GM has the opportunity to own this and emerge as leaders in safety IF they want. I would be pleasantly surprised if they chose to do so.

I wasn't pleased with the recalls, but this is certainly a step in the right direction. If the sales will be decent, GM will hit new highs.

I wouldn't have wanted to take that "promotion" at a time like this. Bayer will either be future hero or scapegoat.

Sounds like a job that involves not a whole lot.

Had Gm acted better, they would not be in this mess.

Looks like just padded vp scape goat position for what the CEO should be accountable for.

What else have they overlooked in the last past ten years.

It's not like Barra is new... she knows or at least she should have some ideas.

I think it's very sad they knew their vehicles air bags might not deploy.

Thinking that creating a new position will solve the problem is just what GM has done in the past and it did not work then and it will not work now. Accountability and responsible managers knowing whats actually going on and acting on it. They new about this for 10 years.
