Hawkish Fed sends EU shares tumbling

European shares track Asia into the red, while U.S. stock futures add to Wall Street's losses from yesterday following surprisingly hawkish comments from Janet Yellen, who indicated that earlier-than-expected rate rises are in the offing.

Euro Stoxx 50 -0.8%, London -0.7%, Paris -0.7%, Frankfurt -0.5%, Madrid -0.6%, Milan -0.3%.

U.S. stock futures: Dow -0.15%. S&P -0.1%. Nasdaq -0.2%

    I Did, it was very red Hawkish. I think even Putin attention was had.We are all too interdependent now.

    I sure didn't see hawkishness--but suppose some people interpreted the comments as Hawkish--What effect would that have on the homebuilders and financials? Would some people decide to borrow and build out of fear that interest rates might go up fast?
