If the Europeans had moral clarity and strategic sense they would form a strategic energy alliance with Israel to develop the very large offshore gas resources that exist in the Mediterranean Basin and turn Israel and Cyprus( and maybe one day even Lebanon) into important sources of natural gas for EU members.

That is one of the most sane comments posted today. This energy program needs to be most immediately developed. Given the on-hand US technology in-situ and the European NG demand. It makes sense to initiate pipeline construction into southern Europe, sales to eastern European users and thereby tilt the Ruskies into a better level of comprehension.

By then the aforementioned Ruskies will have annexed all of Ukraine and Belarus, and Putin will be giving speeches about protecting his Russian brothers and sisters in Poland, the Baltics, Syria, and Cuba from his new palace in Kiev. Meanwhile, the pentagon will be scrambling for a replacement for the Russian-built Atlas V, and Larry King will be demonstrating Casatschok on RT.
