Capstone Turbine +6.5% premarket following Wal-Mart "futuristic truck" debut


Capstone Turbine (CPST+6.5% premarket as Wal-Mart (WMT) showcases its futuristic truck developed as part of the retailer's sustainability program.

WMT says "The prototype is the result of collaboration between Walmart and many vendors, including Peterbilt, ROUSH, Great Dane and Capstone Turbine. Almost every component on this vehicle is cutting edge and showcases innovations of the future that will drive increased efficiencies."

    Yes this was announced the same time they mentioned their large fuel cell order without mentioning Plug.

    In terms of fuel costs, operating a micro turbine will cost significantly less than fuel cells or generator sets because of the micro turbines’ higher efficiencies. For example, based on a US commercial price of $8.17/mCF for natural gas, the fuel cost of a natural gas generator set is $0.049/kWh and the fuel cost of a fuel cell is $0.020/kWh while the fuel cost of a comparable micro turbine is $0.014/kWh. Over the long term, this lower fuel cost per kWh can help offset the higher upfront capital cost. -
