Medvedev visits Crimea

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev is leading a delegation of ministers to Crimea, becoming the most senior politician from his country to visit the province since its annexation.

Medvedev's visit comes after four hours of talks between John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov yesterday rather predictably ended in deadlock.

The U.S. appears to have given up on trying to reverse the annexation, although it's still trying to persuade Russia to wind down the massive build-up of troops on the border with Ukraine.

The Micex is +0.9%, while the USD-RUB is -0.5% to 35.611 rubles.
