Brazil leads emerging markets higher

  • With the Nasdaq and Russell 2000 each off 2% and the S&P 500 down 0.6%, what's working today? Emerging markets (EEM +0.7%), particularly Latin America (ILF +2.2%), particularly Brazil, where the weight of a year-long rate hike cycle looks to be coming to a close just as monetary tightening gets underway in the States.
  • Up 2.6% today, the iShares MSCI Brazil Index (EWZ) is ahead more than 20% since the start of February.
  • Brazil's banks: Banco Bradesco (BBD +2.8%), Banco Santander Brasil (BSBR +2.9%), Itau Unibanco (ITUB +2%).
  • Brazil ETFs: EWZ, BRF, BRXX, EWZS, BRAQ, BRAZ, BZQ, BRZU, BRAF, UBR, BRZS, DBBR, FBZ
  • LatAm ETFs: AND, ILF, LBJ, GML, LATM, EEML, FLN

TY, I had LFL in there too, lol. today's sell off? is just rotation in EM as everyone else catches on. Most of the ETF's are up about the same as the dow is down % wise. BRL rate hike helped, but that has been coming for a while. Obviously BBD benefits X2 as an ADR better currency exchange, rising rate environment. What bank does not do well in that case?

CZZ and PBR have worked out nicely, as well. Still, I wouldn't get too comfortable with conditions in Brazil just yet.

That's the 4th sucker rally since the 2011 crash.

They are just gambling that China will be throwing more trillions.

They are going to be disappointed, and the resulting disillusionment will be crushing.

The bear market will not end until most of you shut up and stop picking the bottom.

It's time to look into countries like china, Hong Kong, taiwan and Singapore. these markets and indices have been languishing at the bottom for the last few years. if you do not want to do much research into them, buy the ETFs.
