Ukraine hopes to import gas from Europe

Ukraine is looking to import natural gas from Europe after Gazprom (OGZPY) said it would raise the prices it charges Ukraine to $485 per 1,000 cubic meters from a previously discounted $268.50.

Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said that the country is ready to challenge the new price in international arbitration but should prepare for Russia to turn off the supplies.

The energy crisis comes with Ukraine struggling to avoid defaulting on its massive debt.

Maybe someday Gazprom will be denationalized and become a profit maximizing enterprise.

Ukraine is not paying its gas bills. If they find someone else to provide them with gas it would be a good thing for Russia and Gazprom.

Apart from paying bills where in Europe would Ukraine import gas from. Europe, the EU that is, relies heavily on Russia and Gazprom for gas.

The US will be paying Ukraine's gas bills. We'll be proclaiming sanctions as our stance, and making the gas payments which wind up in Putin's cronies pockets.

Importing gas from Europe? This is a new level of losing a grip on reality.
The EU/US are disillusioning their interim puppet government into making nonsense statements.

Reminds me of the same irrationality Saakashvili had, right before he went off to chew on his own tie (literally).
