MA Governor's ban challenged

  • Zogenix (ZGNX -4.7%) files a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court in Massachusetts requesting a restraining order against Gov. Deval Patrick's ban on Zohydro citing its direct conflict with the authority of the FDA.
  • This could be the first of many legal actions the firm takes in order to clear the product for nation-wide commercial sale.

About time.. let's look at the more potent opioid options on the market..

Percocet, Percodan, Narvox, Magnacet, Lynox, Endodan, combunox, Perloxx, Primlev, Roxicet, Roxiprin, Taxadone, Tylox, Xolox, Dazidox, Endocodone, ETH-Oxydose, Oxecta, Oxycontin, Oxyfast, OxyIR, Percolone, Roxicodone, Duragesic, Dilaudid, Hydromorph Contin, hydromorphone HCL, Jurnista, PMS-Hydromorphone, Metadol, Statex, Kadian, M-Eslon, MS Contin, Supeudol, Actiq, Fentora, Onsolis, Abstral, Lazanda, Subsys, Opana, Exalgo, dolophine, Methadose, avinza, Oramorph, Carfentanil, Dihydroetorphone, Etonitazene, Etorphine, Bromadol, Sufentanil, Buprenorphine, 7-Hydroxymitragynine, Levorphaol, all excluding the generics.

To single out a single company with a 'less potent' option. Zogenix's REMS program may actually decrease opioid abuse, or at least provides a less potent option to jumping to Oxycontin (oxycodone) when a non-acetaminophen option is required.

Yeah, about time, now to make it public knowledge about senator manchin's daughter being ceo of drug competitor Mylan, and maybe even sue Vermont while they are at it for placing unheard of extra restrictions on one drug, but not on the many more potent ones. I'd pay good money to see manchin sweat it out in a hearing...

When did Patrick think he was the almighty? Maybe he has a hefty financial interest
    in Purdue Pharma.

Doesn't look good for Deval Patrick not to have even responded to Zogenix reasonable request for discussion. Arrogance. Hope the lawsuit puts some facts on the table that have been largely ignored by too many thus far.

There are many solutions to control and prevent addiction. Zohydro is one of the most regulated hydrocodone products on the market. The prescription opioid market has control points that are not regulated enough. Doctors over prescribe, pharmacies allow multiple scripts to be processed, and most of all, the current congress has removed all federal funding for drug education.

The CDC has a list of recommendations for controlling the crisis. None of them involve removing opioids from the market. Why? Because of the legitimate needs of those suffering from intense pain.

The current attempt to ban Zohydro will fail unless all similar products, some stronger and more dangerous from the market. The removal of one company' s product has no effect on the crisis. Especially when it is the most controlled of any of them. It makes no sense.

Sounds like all shareholders in ZGNX WILL RECEIVE BIG DOLLARS AS SOON AS THIS LAWSUIT IS SETTLED IN ZOHYDRO'S FAVOR. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS ONE PERSON (S) WHO FILLED THIS LAWSUIT AGAINST ZGNX. I HOPE THIS PERSON/PEOPLE WHO FILLED IT HAS DEEP POCKETS. SURELY ZGNX DID ITS HOMEWORK PROPERLY AS DO MOST SIZEABLE DRUG MARKETERS AND HAS LITTLE TO WORRY BECAUSE OF OUR REQUIRED FEDERAL CLEARANCE OF ALL NEW DRUGS BEFAORE BEING ALLOWED TO SELL THEM. SO SAYS CHARLEIBOY WHO KNOWS HIS INSTINCTS.
