DigitalGlobe (DGI -4.9%) is within striking distance of its 52-week low ($26.48) following a report stating Google is in early talks to buy satellite imagery startup Skybox Imaging. Google Maps and Earth currently depend heavily on DigitalGlobe's high-res imagery.

Skybox asserts its imagery solution is superior to alternatives thanks to its use of proprietary telescopes, advanced cameras/image sensors, and superior pixel-processing. The company also boasts its satellites are 20x smaller than conventional alternatives.
