PepsiCo seeks the saltly taste without the salt

The food and beverage giant (PEP) inks a collaboration with Senomyx (SNMX) focused on the latter's Salt Taste Program. The objective is to find flavors with modifying properties that restore the salty taste in products with reduced salt.

PepsiCo provides research funding this year with options to continue thereafter. It will have non-exclusive rights to salt flavor modifiers discovered in the collaboration period.

No financial terms are disclosed.
