Honda has big ideas for small cars in the U.S.

Honda (HMC) aims to sell 70K units of its Fit subcompact in the U.S. to return to a level it hasn't seen for the model since 2008.

A shift in production to Mexico will help the company meet increased demand.

What to watch: Nissan (NSANY) is fairly dominant in the subcompact segment in the U.S. with sales of over 100K per year for its Versa Note. If Honda has an edge it might be the strong demographics Fit buyers display which tips off some upside.
