NuStar adds docks as Eagle Ford exports spur Corpus Christi port boom

The port of Corpus Christi, Tex., near the Eagle Ford oil fields of south Texas, is undergoing its biggest expansion in years as energy companies add docks so they can ship more crude to other U.S. ports and perhaps eventually to foreign ports.

Pipeline company NuStar Energy (NS) officially opened a third ship dock at the port, doubling its loading capacity to 400K bbl/day and enabling NS to handle Panamax-class vessels, which can carry 350K-500K barrels, at loading rates of up to 30K bbl/hour.

Other companies expanding or improving their Corpus Christi docks to move more Eagle Ford crude include Trafigura, Magellan Midstream Partners (MMP), Plains All American (PAA) and Martin Midstream Partners (MMLP).

Sorry, but exporting oil is the very last thing we should do. Aside from being illegal under current law, among other things it will maintain existing supply "shortages" that support current pump prices. It's time to give the average consumer a break. In addition, what do we do with imports from our close friends and comrades in Venezuela?. We should cut them off completely and use the "new" crude to balance out supply.
Long PAA but an unhappy owner is looming . .

Couldn't agree more! We have been too dependent with foreign suppliers of energy and it's time to cut loose that handcup. It's time to reap the benefits of our own natural resources and preserve it for future generation.
