ETF asset growth continues at Schwab


ETF assets in custody at Schwab (SCHW -1.1%) ended the first quarter at $203B, up 21% from a year earlier. This follows 29% growth for all of 2013 (industry growth was 26%).

In the first quarter, ETF flows were $4.8B, with nearly 60% going into U.S. fixed-income, and equity ETFs representing just 25% of flows. The ratios reflect broader industry trends.

Sector funds were a popular spot, representing 20% of Q1 flows, triple the level of a year earlier.
