3D Systems buying Brazilian 3D printing service bureau

  • 3D Systems (DDD) is acquiring Robtec, a Sao Paulo-based firm declared to be the largest additive manufacturing service bureau and 3D printer/scanner distributor in Latin America.
  • 3D will initially buy 70% of Robtec, and the remainder of its shares in 5 years. The deal's price tag is undisclosed; 3D says it will be accretive to EPS within 12 months of closing.
  • Robtec, which operates in Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay, will support 3D's Quickparts custom manufacturing/prototyping service. 3D has already acquired a string of service bureaus over the last couple of years. Services accounted for 28% of the company's Q4 revenue.

    Very good, even more downside!

Amazing what DDD cobbles together, while EOS, Stratasys, Arcam and the recent Chinese market entrants make good business. I would have thought, DDD would be a good purchase at around $30, but the way things are going, one can likely get it for even less.

Yes, the scramble to move to the business model the ExOne has built from the beginning continues.

This is another long-term play in Brazil. What we need now is immediate accretive profit to buttress the bottom line. The revenue figures look good but Avi Roethenthal has to give something to Wall Street in the way of increased earnings. Any increase in the bottom line will have an enormous effect upon both individual investors and institutions. Murray S. Fradin

In order to make money you have to invest money. Any one that has owned a business knows that. I for one am willing to hold on and wait.
