Tony Soprano to land on Amazon Prime

HBO (TWX) plans to license shows to a streaming service for the first time with a new deal with Amazon (AMZN).

The Sopranos will be available as soon as May 21, while current shows such as Girls will air after a three-year window.

The companies also announce that HBO GO will be available on Fire TV, with a stated goal to launch before the end of the year.

If it's not Game of Thrones it doesn't matter. This isn't a big deal.

Exactly. You still need a subscription to HBO if you want the best options. Making HBO content available for streaming on apple tv, chromecast, fire tv is like free marketing to those users to become new subscribers to HBO.

Seems like good news for HBO and $TWX, and kind of 'meh' for $AMZN.

Sopranos, three year lag for newer...meh. Just nothing there to make me even consider streaming via Amazon.

Yes and they've all been on tv for years not to mention some on Netflix also. Big whoop. Its not a driver to buy Fire TV.

They aint on my tv and absolutely none are on netflix. Maybe if you've had a subscription to hbo, you've seen them, but i havent. prime price vs cable+hbo premium? Prime's the easy choice. I use an htpc so i could care less about amazon fire.

With all that trivia reporting going on with AMZN, the stock is even in a bigger trouble than I thought.

Not so trivial = pun intended indeed = is the plunge that is coming, if one is to believe the multiple red flags for all to see on Yahoo Finances + other tech charts.
