Barron's: Oasis Petroleum shares on sale after weather-related slide

Shares of fast-growing Oasis Petroleum (OAS -2.1%) are on sale thanks to winter weather that knocked the stock down 15% from its all-time highs, and the company could be a takeover target, according to a Barron's analysis.

Eagle Asset's Matthew McGeary believes the market overreacted - after all, "one harsh winter doesn't change the value of the assets in the ground" - and although 2014 is a big capex year, outlays could moderate going forward even as production growth continues to rise thanks to past investments.

McGeary also speculates OAS may become a takeover target for oil majors such as Exxon and Chevron.
