General Electric (GE -0.6%) joins a $1B joint venture with Nippon Carbon and Safran (SAFRY.PK) to manufacture silicon carbide composite materials for use in next-generation aircraft engines. An exec with GE noted last week that the aviation industry in Asia is "booming" with economic growth strong in the region.
