Ford hiring in U.S. ahead of schedule

  • Ford (F -0.5%) will probably hire more than the 12K employees it pledged to under the terms of a 2011 contract with the UAW, according to Joe Hinrichs.
  • The automaker is already 75% of the way to the commitment to add 12K new hire by 2015.
  • The latest round of hiring was in Claycomo, Missouri outside of Kansas City where Ford builds F-series trucks.

Ford didn't take government bailout dollars--Ford is hiring US workers--FORD is an American company. Thank you Ford and Alan Mulally!

Ford management and the UAW worked together to get through the Great Recession. Now ford is paying back the UAW, let's hope this relationship stays strong for years to come.

Actually the new hiring at Claycomo (about 2000) is to build the new Transit Van on a separate line alongside the F150 pickups there. This is one of the major billion-dollar new product launches for Ford, which increased Ford's capital expenses in 2014 that cut so deeply into the earnings in the 1Q.
