Kinder Morgan clarifies comments implying benefits from oil spills

Kinder Morgan (KMI, KMP) is faced with a public relations problem thanks to a portion of its proposal to expand its Trans Mountain pipeline where it said an oil spill can have positive economic effects such as business and employment opportunities for spill response and clean-up.

The company says it is required to analyze both positive and negative effects of a spill in its project application, but Kinder Morgan Canada president Ian Anderson says "no spill is acceptable to me anywhere, any time, for any reason... Spills are not part of our economic benefits analysis, nor do we in any way say that money spent on spill response would be justification for our project."

A spokesman for Enbridge (ENB), a supporter of the pipeline to B.C., says he does not believe Canadian government guidelines require such an analysis.

Rachel Maddow was among the outraged critics.

Maddow if the leftwing nut that counter balances the rightwing nuts like Glen Beck. Safe to ignore both.

The whole kerfuffle is based on the attempt to re-assign guilt from British Petroleum to others for the BP spill negligence.

I am buying KMP on the drop.

You expect a drop because of MSNBC/Mad-Cow? Hardly. If they could meter and sell the energy she puts out, there would be no need for the O&G industry.

Still does not change the fact that a spill creates long term damage to the environment. I guess it means that tax payers will have to pay to clean up this mess. But they should remember the new precedent sent with BP in the gulf incident. This will or be costly to the share holders.

I don't think there was an actual spill. They were discussing hypotheticals.

Rachel Maddow should be outraged and uber apologetic for ascribing the oil spill /pipeline break as being on a Kinder Morgan Pipeline when in fact the leak/spill was unrelated to Kinder Morgan pipelines and belonged to another company's pipeline

I think Maddow is great. Just about everything else you see on TV is inspired by Koch Brothers money to put down everything that does not add to Koch brother wealth. Maddow is a smart lady. She goes overboard at times, and I think this is a case of that, but in general she is one if the few investigative reporters who represent the common good. I don't like anyone trashing my stocks, but let the chips fall where they may.

I do not think Maddow is great. She is a left-wing Obama/George Soros sycophant that does everything she can to add to George Soros's wealth. Everything you see on MSNBC, CNN, ABC, NBC and ABC is all about furthering George Soros New World Order. I'm pretty sure George Soros has a lot more money than the Koch brothers and spends a lot more trying to influence American elections.

I thought this discussion was over....A few days ago..

Funny now, how they have to do "damage control"....Before a spill.
Would this be known as a "pre-emptive strike."...?
    long...kmp, kmr.
