Suncor employee killed by a bear in company's third fatality this year

  • A Suncor Energy (SU -0.2%) employee was killed in a bear attack at its main oil sands operation near Fort McMurray in Alberta.
  • Alberta’s oil sands operations sit in prime bear and wildlife territory, although this area is defined by open pit mines rather than forest.
  • The death was SU's third employee fatality this year, the first two in work-related incidents.

The statement "Alberta’s oil sands operations sit in prime bear and wildlife territory, although this area is defined by open pit mines rather than forest." is misleading and inaccurate. The open pit mines are only what the media and extremists focus on. If you would go check it you would find there is an ongoing reclamation of mined areas which wildlife now live in. It amazes me how so many people assume the BS they are fed is fact just because some zealot said it is.
