GM sets timetable for ignition switch fix

Delphi Automotive (DLPH -0.6%) has increased production in order to help General Motors (GM -1.7%) replace vehicles impacted by the ignition switch recall, according to a new blog post on GM's FastLane.

"Our plan is to produce enough repair parts by October to fix the majority of the vehicles impacted by the ignition switch and ignition cylinder recalls, " writes GM safety chief Jeff Boyer.

So does this mean a huge number of potentially dangerous GM cars will still be on the roads between now May 17 and October 2014 and well beyond? We won't even mention cars whose owners fail to bring them in for the critical recall.
