Statoil's Snorre B platform shut in, evacuated after leak

Statoil (STO -0.2%) shut in oil production at its Snorre B platform in the North Sea and evacuated non-essential personnel after detecting an oil leak on the seabed.

The platform was first shut on Saturday after the leak was discovered with a remotely operated vessel and shut again today after problems during a restart attempt.

The two-platform Snorre field produced 88Kbbl/day of oil last year; STO says Snorre A is still producing at full capacity.
