Henry Schein and athenahealth team up

  • athenahealth (ATHN +0.6%) and Henry Schein Medical (HSIC +0.5%form a strategic partnership to help physicians operate more efficient high-quality-of-care practices by jointly marketing athenahealth's athenaOne suite of EHR, integrated revenue cycle management and patient communication services. Schein will offer athenahealth services as part of its ConnectHealth offering which helps doctors digitize their practices. Schein serves ~50% of physician practices in the U.S. through its 600 sales reps.

    For those doubters I'd like to know what's the tipping point? These guys have relentlessly pursued the biz and keep adding MAJOR service providers. In software building the platform is costly. In cable tv building the platform is costly. You look stupid while you literally. Burn money but you keep adding subscribers. At SOME point .... You get over the hump, you don't need to keep building the base mechanism and cash flow skyrockets. I think these guys are approaching ascent from the runway. Tell me ... Why not?
