3D Systems, Stratasys post 5%+ gains; ExOne, Voxeljet also up

3D Systems (DDD +6.1%) and Stratasys (SSYS +5.1%), both hit hard by the March-May momentum stock rout, are posting big gains on a day the Nasdaq is only up 0.5%. Beaten-down ExOne (XONE +6.8%) and Voxeljet (VJET +3.1%) are also rallying.

Stratasys could be benefiting from a BB&T note praising MakerBot's potential. Last month, UBS cited MakerBot's strong position in the consumer/enthusiast 3D printer segment as a reason for being positive on Stratasys.

Voxeljet closed yesterday near its 52-week low of $12.85. Likewise, ExOne wasn't too far removed from its 52-week low of $24.34. Shares had been trading close to the low since ExOne posted a Q1 miss last week.

Most stocks are up since the recent low. No surprise that MOMO-stocks also rise. All 3DP hype-stocks remain short term trading vehicles for the time being.

Really Andreas ? You jump on every single 3D article instantly with your "nowhere but down" mantra (first comment on here I see) but now it's "No surprise . ." that 3D stocks are up today ? Your obsession borders on pathological. Seriously I would suggest some counseling to get at the cause of your compelling need to bash 3DP stocks. We know already, you've posted the same thing ad infinitum, we get it, you don't like 3D stocks but you can't will your wishes (for whatever your personal reason is) to come true, enough already. If your opinion is certain stocks are MOMO then short them and take your $ if it works out for you. Others have a different opinion.

You did not care to check my profile: I am short BBRY and DDD.

Working in this field, I actually like and use additive fabrication, and I like the stocks. I even go as far as to say that 3D Systems has some useful products at good price points.

However, the stocks are insanely overvalued in my view; hence my position.

Andreas you have made a lot of money the past several months but nothing is forever. You will have to cover you shorts for a long time to come. I agree with temenem. it is over and once Google, HP etc. get in you will loose it all if you keep your short tone. Remember the old card phrase....You got to learn how to hold them and you have to learn when to fold them. Good by !

Over? All 3DP MOMO-stocks are nicely down since 1st January 2014:

    SSYS -29,79%
    DDD -40,79%
    AMAVF -41,14%
    VJET -64,07%

In my book, this is only consequent. You need to be more patient to see the proper low valuations.

well, it's only one day and it may turn out to be "a day in the life of a fool"...but those of you who have paid even a scintilla of attention to my comments will not be surprised.
No, none of you know who I am and I do not have the moniker of Technical Analyst
or Hedge Fund Mgr alongside my name and represent no one but myself. However,
even in the face of an onslaught of highly questionable motivated attacks on this stock, I stood firm!! I repeatedly said, I will buy on dips below 55 and the stock will not go below 43-44 because investors both small and huge will not be so foolish and blinded by personal animous toward AR or the company to fictionalize and interpret information in the most negative light to pursue their personal agendas. In my last comment, I said the next quarterly report would be positive and push the stock between 58 and 66, but now we may get there a lot sooner. I also said the chances of me being wrong were 3 in 10 and that probably came off as obnoxious and arrogant...
but I manage 3 personal accounts and last years returns were topped by exactly ONE
Mutual Fund, a sector of Lord Abbott that generated 76% returns. So, repeating what I have said from the onset... listen to yourself, digest the info, and follow your gut.

    Bravo, riskrunner

There is little that private investors love to hear more than a man standing up and letting all know of the great returns that he has received due to his superior intelligence and strength of character.

Although in truth it is probably better to wait at least two days. The markets can be so diabolical, you know.

What happens when $DDD is under $30 a share? June? July? August?

Ask any market technician that is not a "3D" bull or cheerleader and you will not like the answer. Just saying cuz reading charts is easy :)

I'm taking bets gentlemen, because I can guarantee that you've seen the top. So now what? It's hard working with a ceiling, I know :)

    Good luck to all :)

Sure. After losing ~40% so far (which means a 67% increase would be needed for DDD just to reach its previous high valuation) the cheerleaders and backslappers come out of the woodwork after a gain that has nothing to do with DDD's performance, but rather the entire sector of MOMO-stocks being lifted by positive market sentiment.

This is fun to see. And ever so predictable.

My simple response to Blue Eyes is this---
I have said that 90% of you are smarter than I and that I am a True Believer who follows his own path and is not swayed by finding flaws/loopholes in even positive news.
Strength of character? Absolutely. Superior Intelligence? I said exactly the opposite.
I also said, if the next quarterly report is disappointing, the stock could drop to $33.
All I have asked of those commenting on this stock is not to be a Lemming, and to
choose their own path. If that offends you, I will manage to sleep soundly.

Wow, so aggressive everyone. No wonder technical charts are so accurate for their predictions are based on the emotions of investors.

Investing, whether long or short, is about substantial amounts of money. If everyone just shakes hands all the time and backslaps each other, what would we learn from that? Making profits from stocks is a killer business and only tough and provocative comments and arguments bring out the sentiments, by which one can judge one's own reasoning and decision-making.

To djkidm---I don't know what you're seeking and it's your business, not mine.
I simply wanted to point out that when you say--"we've seen the ceiling"
that you have clearly looked up...BUT you are standing in the Wrong Room!!
As for Andreas--- I believe the previous High was just around 94...and while it may
require a 67% increase to reach that number, it only need get up to $66-70 to generate
a substantial chunk of cash for those who loaded up at 43-44 to see a profit pretty close to 40%. Oh... I suggest you also change your location since you seem to be standing awfully close to dj...

    felvelnik...
I am in same situation as you (probably worse off) as I was the victim of titanic embezzlement that left me with some paperback books and my boxer shorts when I was age 60. So I hear you and can only repeat what I have said... follow your own gut and make certain you have ALL the info ALL the time... meaning facts, not opinions, including mine. For me, owning stocks like ADSK, DDD, SSYS, QUMU, and VJET down at 13 plus and XONE at 25 PFPT at 23, SPLK at 42, PANW 58, stack the odds in my favor (opinion) as they have enormous upside rooted in the future and a long horizon line in terms of sector crossover.
Those of us who play the game honestly can do little more than use our brains, try not to panic and wait for valuations and strong odds of success. Good luck.
