As expected, Facebook (FB) is using a New York conference to announce it will begin selling mobile ads, though the company's initial efforts will be limited to Premium ads. Facebook is also announcing a "Reach Generator" that will turn "stories" published by companies into homepage ads, and a product called Offers, which gives businesses a means to share discounts and promotions (potentially indirect competition for GRPN).

With this change, I predict that their user growth stalls, especially since a lot of the recent growth comes from smartphone mobile users, so the execution on converting the user base into a cash-cow is going to determine whether FB ultimately becomes a durable star or a flaming pig - not much room for error with a $100 billion valuation.

This would have been an amazing buy at a $10 billion market cap, maybe it gets there after it goes public and the lockup expires.
