More on AMD/SeaMicro: AMD has formally announced the acquisition, stating it will pay $334M ($281M in cash) for the server maker. AMD touts the value of SeaMicro's high-density server technology in large data center and cloud environments, and says it will use it to "deliver new platforms" to server OEMs, starting in the second half. The chipmaker says the deal will be "accretive to earnings after 2012." (PR)
