Samsung chairman regains consciousness

Samsung (SSNLF) chairman Lee Kun-hee has regained consciousness after being in a coma for more than two weeks following a heart attack. An official statement calls the prognosis for Lee's cognitive function "hopeful given the extent of his neurological recovery."

Lee has been Samsung's chairman since 1987, overseeing the company's meteoric rise. Lee Jae-yong, his eldest son and the vice-chairman of Samsung Electronics, is seen as the most likely successor.
